Episode 11 – Trip

13319715_1774951649390043_4835815337053221767_nThis is the very first episode featuring stories from a Brain Beans Live Event! Well. Sort of.The audio was corrupted and lost for good. But I happened to have recorded two of our story tellers during their pitch, so all is not lost. The theme for the night was “Trip”.

Story #1 is from Aaron who tells a tale of being on an acid trip will vacationing in a lake town unknown to him. Hilarity ensues.

The second story is from Maria, who 20 years ago ended up in a shady part of town looking to buy some weed and gets a lot more than she bargained for.

Pictured to the left are Scot and I at the Trip event in May.

Episode 8 – Work Stories

Oh hi, it’s me again! SORRY. But I’m back now. I took the summer off to go see a lot of fun shows and comedians and get skinny. I didn’t mean to take off so much time!

I didn’t really have a corresponding photo for this episode either. So, also, sorry. I’m full of apologies.

Both stories this week are from me and are stories that took place during my job. The first is about a devious tenant and the second is about what happens when you show a house and the homeowner isn’t expecting you.

This episode featured music from the band You, You’re Awesome in the second story.

The last 10 minutes are so feature just a little catching-up and a commitment from me to try something new. But there’s no story there.  It might be boring to you. If you’re some kind of jerk.

Episode 7 – Embarrassment

788652891_11901fd19f_oThis is an ancient selfie from the dawn of selfies when I was working at the pizzeria.  Note the kitchen apron.

Both stories this week are from me. The first story is not so embarrassing for young me as it is for the other guy. Story number 2 is what happened to me when the tables were turned in a very bizarre way.

This episode featured music from the band You, You’re Awesome.

SSS 2: Zack and Will

IMG_6274

At the top of this episode is a quick update from the story Just Like Carl and Arthur.

In this single story short, I tell the story of a fun but short lived friendship one summer in high school. We worked together for the summer at an amusement park and things got a little weird when we decided to hang out outside of work one night.

The photo to the left shows Zack and Will rolling around on the floor with the 2 dogs that belonged to the homeowner of the house we were partying at. I had completely forgotten about these dogs until I went back and started looking at my old photos to see if I had any of either of these guys. I didn’t realize that I actually took a couple that night.

This is a photo of me and Zack. My hair was generally gelled up and parted on the side (I literally didn’t leave the house without a giant bottle of LA Looks) but after dancing around I think I sweated out all of the gel. Either way, terrible look. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This was from one of those cheesy dance parties in the location known as the Festhaus at the time.

Episode 6 – Dating Stories Part II

unnamedThis is part two of the series.  At this point I’m not sure how many parts there will be because I have several more stories recorded to share.  I do know that there will be at least a part 3, though!

The first story is from Julie Hill about the first time she hung out with a gentleman that she’d heard so much about. (there was some build up). Julie also created the artwork for this week’s podcast, inspired by the 3rd story.  Check out her website!

Story 2 is told by Grace about the first time she met her own dude of the internet form a message board.  Don’t we know by now that that’s a bad idea?

The third story is told by Lisa Cantrell who is also the creator and host of the podcast An Inexact Science.

Finally, a gentleman friend tells the story of his most embarrassing first date.  He prefers to remain anonymous.

Look for part 3 in the coming weeks! Episode 5 – Ghost Stories

This episode was supposed to be all ghost stories.  The problem is that I was trying to tell ghost stories with my drunk friends and it ended up being drunk girl talk with a couple ghost stories at the end.  I think we needed a little light hearted fun after a few heavy episodes though, right?  None of the gals in this weeks episode are credited because I don’t think anyone wants this silliness on their permanent record!

1129699This is the house featured in my ghost story.  It’s gorgeous, right?

Episode 4 – Growing Up Online

788648283_52041507c6_oThis is part one of a 2 part series. That is the plan, lest there be even more dating stories that come my way in the next few weeks and it is expanded to a 3rd part. This story is from me, and it is is about dating digitally. I started chatting online when I was 10 years old, believe it or not. The dating- more like chatting with intention to meet- came around 13 or 14. To the left is a photo of me when I was about 17 or possibly just after my 18th birthday, taken with my webcam in my bedroom (stuffed animals, futon, and all).

This episode features music from my friends The Lions Rampant and Lisa Cantrell who is also the creator and host of the podcast An Inexact Science.
